Intelligence Analyst, Latin America

The position
Seeking a specialist in the political, economic and security issues in Latin America. The successful applicant will apply intelligence from a number of sources and for a variety of purposes, including:

• Provision of analytical intelligence for a range of public and private sector clients.
• Political risk consulting and reports for the insurance industry.
• Verbal briefings to clients and other AKE staff.
• Internal company reports and briefings.
• Liaison, administration and management assignments as the company shall see fit.

Requirements
The successful applicant should:
• Have at least an upper second-class bachelors degree (but preferably educated to post-graduate level) in a relevant discipline. It would also be advantageous to have some prior experience in the relevant sectors (insurance, media, etc.).
• Be able to produce first class analysis of the political, economic and security trends (including kidnaps for ransom) across Latin America.
• Have a good appreciation of the business environment and investment climate in Latin America.
• Have a familiarity with a broad range of regional publications and both open and closed sources.
• Be confident, easy going, and willing to engage in presentations and public speaking. Related, they will be adept at meeting, conversing and engaging with a wide variety of people, including former armed forces personnel, academics, the media and private sector clients in the financial and insurance industries.
• Have a good command of IT skills, particularly the use of word processing and internet applications.
• Have knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese.
• Due to the nature of the work and our client base, candidate must be capable of exercising discretion and maintaining confidentiality.

This role is a full time position based out of our London office, but there may be opportunity for regional travel as the role requires.

Intelligence Analyst MENA

The position

Requirements
The successful applicant should:

Prior experience in the field of corporate investigations and due diligence will be looked upon extremely favourably

Internship
AKE is looking to recruit interns for its 2010 Autumn-Winter remote internship scheme, running from 6 September 2010 until the end of the year. Applicants should have an excellent command of written English, a demonstrable background in international politics or security, and preferably be working towards a Masters Degree or equivalent experience. As this is a remote programme, you must have reliable internet access. Please note that this is an unpaid scheme.

Applicants should have a specialist interest in one of the following regions, and should specify in the subject line of their application which desk they are applying for:
- Latin America
- Eastern Europe and Former Soviet Union
- Middle East and North Africa
- Sub-Saharan Africa
- Central and South Asia
- East Asia

Duties and responsibilities may include:

Provision of analytical intelligence for a range of public and private sector clients;
- Provision of internal company reports and briefings;
- Assistance in updating AKE's online country intelligence services;
- Assistance in political risk consulting projects.

Requirements:
- Successful candidates should be specialists in one of the aforementioned regions and specify such regional interest in their application;
- Candidates should have a familiarity with political, economic and security trends in the relevant region and must be able to produce clear and concise analysis of such events;
- Candidates will be working toward a Bachelors degree at the very least (but preferably educated to post-graduate level) in a relevant discipline. It would be advantageous to have some experience of the business sectors AKE works within;
- Knowledge of one or more relevant regional languages is preferable.
