Intelligence Analyst / Economist

AKE Limited is looking to expand with the addition of a trained economist to form part of the analytical team of AKE Intelligence in London.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate experience working with economic data and statistics and should be able to apply economic theory to issues facing AKE's clients. Evidence of forecasting of economic trends in a professional capacity is preferred. Likewise, demonstrable examples of investigations and due diligence, whether as a researcher or a sub-contractor, will also be viewed favourably.

The position will complement and support the pre-existing team's regional expertise and in addition to taking a lead role in analysing global economic trends, the candidate will be expected to contribute to writing and updating content for AKE's various intelligence products. As such, a clear understanding of global political and security risks is essential.

Duties and responsibilities include:

Intelligence Delivery
Responsibility for the collection, analysis and dissemination of AKE intelligence from a number of sources and for a variety of end purposes, including:

- The updating of AKE's online country intelligence services
- Analytical intelligence for a range of public and private sector clients
- Political risk consultancy and reports for the insurance industry
- Verbal briefings.
- Internal company reports and briefings

Source Development
- The maintenance and development of human sources
- Research and evaluation of electronic sources

Support Role
- Report writing for Intelligence department for peer review by regional analysts
- Research support to training and operations department
- Research support and risk modelling for AKE Special Risks

Business Development
- Identify business opportunities for the company and department
- Business and competitor intelligence
- Marketing research
- Promotional talks, demonstrations and meetings

Other
- Liaison, administration and management roles as the company shall see fit

Requirements:
- The successful candidate will be a specialist in economics and ideally will have worked in the field.
- They need to be able to produce (and prove the ability to produce) first class analysis of global political and economic trends.
- They will have been educated to post-graduate level in a relevant discipline.
- It would be advantageous to have some experience of the business sectors AKE works within.
- They need to be confident, easy going, and willing to engage in presentations and some public speaking. As an extension of this they will be adept at meeting, conversing and engaging with a wide variety of people from differing backgrounds.
- An excellent command of IT skills is essential, particularly the use of word processing and internet packages.
- Due to the nature of the work to be engaged in, the candidate will be capable of exercising discretion.

This role is a full time position and is based out of our London office, but there is opportunity for regional travel as the role requires.
