Surviving
Hostile Regions
Surviving Hostile Regions is
AKE's world-renowned five-day course designed for news teams
and individuals working in challenging or hostile areas. Established
in 1993, the course was the first of its kind and has since
become the benchmark for hostile environments training in many
sectors. Surviving Hostile Regions will show you how to reduce
risks, increase your effectiveness, and maximise control of
any situation you find yourself in.
Since each situation is unique, we deal in proven principles
rather than suggesting that a situation will unfold in a specified
manner - to think that is a risk in itself. We show you what
you can predict and how to think through the most likely scenarios,
so that you are able to preserve your safety. We encourage self-reliance,
and enable you to stay in control.
International BTEC accreditation
AKE's Surviving Hostile Regions course is accredited by UK-based
BTEC (the Business and Technology Education Council) - the only
hostile environments training to earn this internationally recognised
endorsement. This means the course is externally audited to
ensure it meets a consistently high standard of excellence -
so you're sure of quality. Graduates are awarded the BTEC Level
Three (Advanced) qualification.
Complimentary war and
terrorism insurance
The regard in which AKE's training is held by key insurers in
Lloyd's of London means that Surviving Hostile Regions graduates
receive £100,000 of personal accident insurance and medical
repatriation benefits as an additional advantage of the course.
Graduates also qualify for a reduction in insurance rates to
the most hostile environments and further details are shown
under the insurance section.
Complimentary trial of
Global Intake
Course participants have the option to try Global Intake (www.globalintake.com),
AKE's ground-breaking website and database; offering up-to-date
analyses of international politics and security risks, what
to do on arrival in-country, medical updates, detailed safety
guidelines and a great deal more.
